Dear St. John the Baptist Family
This weekend, we have a missionary preacher who will make an appeal on behalf of the Diocese of Gumaca in Quezon Province in the Philippines.
Every summer, the Diocese of San Jose participates in the Mission Cooperative Plan endorsed by the bishops of the United States. Missionaries from different parts of the world are given permission to appeal to parishioners for assistance in their work.
The Diocese of Gumaca covers the southeastern section of the province of Quezon. A fairly young diocese, it was established in 1984, and is comprised of 29 parishes but with a growing vibrant faith communities.
The funds collected from the mission appeal will be used for the cost of formation sessions and the needed materials to organize and maintain the 671 Basic Ecclesial Communities in the diocese. It will also be used to maintain Catholic chapels in the areas. In addition, the money will help supplement in providing assistance to the poor by giving them livelihood programs as well as helping those affected by calamities. We thank you for your generosity.
Fr. Renante Malimata, mission speaker, has been a priest for 14 years. He is currently the pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Brgy. Aloneros, Guinayangan, Quezon.
Let us welcome Fr. Malimata into our parish. Let us pray for the mission of the Diocese of Gumaca. Finally, let us be generous in our financial gift to the mission cooperative program.
God will bless you all for your generosity.
In Christ,
Msgr. Willie S. Manrique
Pastor
