Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
Welcome
Are you searching for a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ? Have you been thinking about becoming Catholic, completing your Sacraments, or simply learning more about the Catholic faith?
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a welcoming journey of faith for those seeking to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist. Whether you are just beginning to explore Christianity or returning to your Catholic faith, we invite you to journey with us.
Who Can Participate?
Adults
- Anyone 18 years of age or older who:
- Has never been baptized.
- Was baptized in another Christian denomination and wishes to become Catholic.
- Was baptized Catholic but has not yet received First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation.
- Is a fully initiated Catholic seeking a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith.
- Simply wants to learn more about Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Children
Children 7 years of age and older who have not yet been baptized may also participate through our OCIA process designed especially for children.
What is OCIA?
OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process through which individuals prepare to become members of the Catholic Church. Through prayer, Scripture, discussion, and faith formation, participants grow in their relationship with Christ while learning about Catholic beliefs, traditions, and the sacraments.
This journey is not simply a class—it is an invitation to encounter Jesus and become part of a loving faith community.
Is OCIA Right for You?
OCIA is for anyone asking questions such as:
- Am I thinking about becoming Catholic?
- What does the Catholic Church believe?
- How can I grow closer to God?
- What must I do to follow Jesus Christ?
- How do I receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist?
- I was baptized Catholic but never completed my Sacraments. What should I do?
- I have been away from the Church and would like to come home.
If you have asked yourself any of these questions, OCIA may be the next step in your faith journey.
Each Sunday, be sure to read "The OCIA Corner" in the parish bulletin for updates, reflections, and information about the OCIA journey.
We Are Here to Help
