SACRAMENTS

The Catholic Church celebrates seven sacraments—Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders—through which we encounter God’s grace throughout our lives.

INFANT BAPTISM

Through Baptism, children are welcomed into the Catholic Church and begin their new life in Christ. Baptisms are celebrated every Saturday at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM.

Parents or guardians must schedule an interview with the Parish Office and attend a required preparation class, offered on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Our First Holy Communion program prepares children to receive Jesus in the Eucharist and deepen their understanding of the Mass, prayer, and Catholic faith. Children must be at least seven years old and enrolled in first grade or above.

Class Schedule

  • Thursdays: 6:45 PM–8:00 PM
  • Saturdays: 9:15 AM–10:30 AM

Registration begins in late July or early August.

Confirmation strengthens young Catholics through the gifts of the Holy Spirit and deepens their relationship with Jesus and the Church. Learn about our one-year program, eligibility requirements, class schedule, sponsors, and registration.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION

The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Penance or Confession, invites us to experience God’s mercy and forgiveness. Through the ministry of the priest, we confess our sins, receive absolution, and are strengthened by grace to grow in holiness and love for others.

Confession Schedule

Saturday: 3:00 PM

Or by appointment

A communal Reconciliation service is usually offered during the season of Lent.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK & PASTORAL CARE

Pastoral Care of the Sick

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion visit parishioners who are hospitalized, living in care facilities, or unable to leave their homes because of illness or medical conditions. They bring Holy Communion, prayer, spiritual support, and the caring presence of our parish community.

Anointing of the Sick

Through the ministry of a priest, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick offers Christ’s healing, strength, peace, and grace. A person does not need to be near death to receive this sacrament. It is available to those facing serious illness, surgery, declining health, or the frailty of old age.

The sacrament is also celebrated during the morning Mass on the first Saturday of each month.

Marriage

Marriage is a sacred covenant in which a couple celebrates their love as a sign of God’s faithful love and receives the support and prayers of the Church community.

Couples planning to marry at St. John the Baptist should contact the Parish Office before setting a wedding date or making other arrangements. Please allow at least six months to complete the marriage preparation process and meet with one of our priests.

Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament through which Christ’s mission, entrusted to His Apostles, continues in the Church through the ministry of bishops, priests, and deacons. Those who are ordained serve God’s people by proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments, and guiding the faithful in holiness.

Faith-filled families help nurture vocations through prayer, encouragement, and loving support. Let us pray that God will send laborers into His harvest and encourage those discerning a call to the priesthood, diaconate, or religious life.

Be not afraid to answer His call.
