New to St. John

What to expect at Mass

Whether you are Catholic, returning to the Church, visiting with family, or attending Mass for the first time, we are happy you are here.

When you arrive, feel free to find a seat anywhere in the church, and an usher can help you. Our celebration of Mass includes Scripture readings, prayers, a homily, and the celebration of the Eucharist. You are welcome to participate as much as you feel comfortable.

Don’t worry if you are unfamiliar with when to sit, stand, or kneel—simply follow along with the congregation.

Come as you are. You are welcome here, and we hope you will join us again.

Receiving Holy Communion

During Holy Communion, Catholics who are properly prepared may come forward to receive the Eucharist. If you are not Catholic or are not receiving Communion, you are welcome to remain seated and pray, or come forward with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing.
