To serve as a music minister in the Catholic Church is a privilege as well as a serious responsibility. It is a privilege because the gift of music is not given to everyone, and it is a responsibility because musical leadership must foster the "full, conscious and active participation" of the assembly.
At St. John we invite and encourage every person, gifted in Music (voice and instruments) to come and join the Music Ministry. Share your gifts and your talents given by God for His greater honor and glory.
Vision The St. John the Baptist Church Music Ministry’s goal is to enrich our experience of every liturgical celebration by fostering the full, conscious, and active participation of the assembly. Members of the Music Ministry serve with integrity and dedication as we share, celebrate, and deepen our faith through music.
Mission The Music Ministry provides careful and creative selection of hymns, inspirational songs, and psalms that: - Support the congregation during liturgy - Respond to and spread the message of the Gospel - Invite the parish community to grow and unite in prayer - Provide an environment for its members to grow spiritually.
We also strive to share the gift of music outside our parish community through projects that witness to the Gospel values of hope, joy, peace, and love.
Expectations/Commitments 1) Attend regularly scheduled choir rehearsals and assigned mass times. 2) Voluntarily sing at other masses when needed. 3) Actively participate and cooperate in ministry projects and special church celebrations (e.g., Triduum, Easter, and Christmas) 4) Participate in diocesan sponsored music ministry seminars or workshops.
