Baptismal Preparation

 Baptismal Preparation
  • Parents and Godparents must attend the class prior to the child's baptism.
  • No baptism will be scheduled unless parents and godparents have complied with this requirement.

Scheduling Baptism
  • Parents are advised to register and schedule the baptism of their child at the parish office after the Baptismal Preparation class.
  • Parents are advised not to schedule a party/celebration unless your data has been confirmed.

Parents

Parents residing within the Parish vicinity are obliged to register and become parishioners of St. John's before they could fill up the form their child's baptism. If they belong to other Parish, they are required to obtain an approval letter from their Pastor to hold the baptism at St. John's.

Godparents
At least one of the Godparents must be a Catholic, Confirmed and a regular Sunday Mass attendee. If the Godparents are from the other Parish, they are advised to participate the Baptismal Preparation Program and secure a letter of that participation from the Pastor.

The Children
Children seven (7) years of age are to be enrolled IN and Complete a Baptism Readiness Class sponsored by the Parish CCD School of Religion.
If you have question, please call the parish Office at 408.262.2546.
  • Because of ORIGINAL SIN, we are born without grace in our souls, so there is no way for us to have fellowship with God. Jesus became man to bring us into union with His Father. He said no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is first born of  "WATER and the SPIRIT" (John 3:5) - this refers to BAPTISM.
  • Through BAPTISM we are born again, but this time on a spiritual level instead of a physical level. We are washed in the bath of rebirth (Titus 3:5). We are baptized into Christ's death and therefore share in His Resurrection (Romans 6:3-7)
  • Baptism cleanses us of sins and brings the Holy Spirit and his grace into our sould (Acts 2:38,22:16). And the Apostle Peter is perhaps the most blunt of all: "BAPTISM NOW SAVE YOU" (1Pter 3:21) BAPTISM is the gateway into the CHURCH.
